CHS Division I Champions - 2013

Concord’s Law is Athlete of the Month
New Hampshire Union leader
Concord quarterback Robbie Law hands the ball off during the title game against Pinkerton on Nov. 23. (THOMAS ROY/UNION LEADER)
If there’s one thing to remember about Concord High quarterback Robbie Law’s sensational junior season, it’s that he completed 100 passes and never threw an interception in 12 Division I games. The NHIAA doesn’t keep individual statistics, but anyone would be hard pressed to find another Granite State quarterback to match Law’s accomplishment.
It was Law’s focus and accuracy that led Concord High to the program’s first Division I undefeated season last month and his stellar post-season performance allowed him to capture the Apple Therapy Services/Bedford Ambulatory Surgical Center New Hampshire Union Leader Athlete of the Month honors for November. Law will be honored at the New Hampshire Union Leader’s annual sports banquet, The Leaders: A Celebration of New Hampshire Sports Champions on Feb. 9, 2014.
Law guided Concord to a 12-0 record, setting the program record for most wins in a season.

Law’s run through the playoffs starting heating up in the Crimson Tide’s last regular-season game. He completed 7-of-12 passes for 88 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown strike in Concord’s 35-7 win against Goffstown.
In the Division I North championship, Law was 12-of-17 for 201 yards with three touchdown passes covering 59, 16 and 16 yards in a 53-14 win against Manchester Central. In a 22-10 victory over Exeter in the Division I semifinals, Law was 7-of-15 for 107 yards with a 12-yard TD pass, a conversion pass and a conversion run.
Finally, in a 42-14 decision over Pinkerton Academy of Derry in the Division I championship, Law completed 8-of-11 passes for 219 yards with touchdown strikes covering 5, 21 and 27 yards. His final completion gave him 100 for the season, with no interceptions. “He’s got that extra something you can’t teach as a coach and our coaching staff saw it when he was a freshman,” said Concord head coach Eric Brown. “We don’t keep freshman stats, but he threw about 40 touchdown passes. Last year as a sophomore, we made the decision to make him our starting quarterback three weeks into the season and we’ve never looked back.”
Brown, who has been coaching for nearly 25 years and has seen many great quarterbacks at all levels, said completing 100 passes with no interceptions is impressive.

“We’re talking about a full 12-game season and around 150 pass attempts,” said Brown. “The thing about Robbie is he doesn’t panic. If he doesn’t have a play, he usually throws the ball away or takes the sack. He’s not the biggest kid on the field (5-foot-10, 175 pounds), but he throws the ball to where it’s supposed to be.”
Depth was a strong suit of Concord, particularly in the receiving corps with seniors Seimou Smith, Nick Comeau, Mark Gaudet and junior Jake Szulc. Law also had a safety value in senior halfback Walters Ndi.
“His mechanics improved dramatically from his sophomore to junior season and he continues to get better,” said Brown. “He’s a competitor and winner.”

Law received 31 points from the nine-member Union Leader Board of Judges for the November honor. Finishing second in the balloting with 27 points was Southern New Hampshire University soccer standout Christian Rodriguez of Manchester.

The following is a tentative schedule for the 2015 Crimson Tide Football

*The Loudon Race Track fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, July

19th. This is a mandatory fundraiser for all football players!  We are

requesting that one parent of each football player volunteer their

time that day if possible.  Your role will be supervisory and you will

not have to pick up trash!!  We do get paid based on the number of

people we bring to the track.  The more we bring, the more money we

can raise.

(Please be at the Department of Transportation on Hazen Drive no later

than 2:30pm) Bus departs at 3pm!  **THIS TIME IS SUBJECT TO

*The other major fundraiser is selling the Gold Cards. The “blitz day” for

that is Saturday, Aug. 29th.  **This date is tentative.  Time: TBD

times per day. 9am-10:30am and 6-7:30pm. Monday, Wednesday and

Friday.  It is expected that football players attend one session per day.

7/9, 7/16, 7/23, 7/30.  Varsity only (10-12 graders) at this time.

We will be participating the Northeast Under Armour 7v7 tournament

again this year.  The date is Sat. July 18th at Exeter HS.  The 7v7 roster

and departure time will be discussed at a later date.

All incoming freshman must have physicals on file prior to August

and have not played a sport at Concord High you must have a

physical on file prior to August 12th in the Concord High Athletic

Thursday, August 6th  at 9 a.m.

(these appointments are only for those who are unable to schedule

an appointment with their own physician).

their helmets. This will take place in the Concord High football locker

Also that day all football players will be taking an ImPact test for our

new concussion management program.   Plan on being at the school for

at least 2 hours.

All other equipment will be distributed to the players on August

10th as well.

*Practice begins Wednesday Aug. 12th! All grades 9-12. (see below)

PRACTICE!!!  See other sheet for information regarding camp!

*5 years ago we implemented a new practice format with great

success. We will be following that format again this year. We will be

practicing (on the field) from 8AM until approx. 12:30PM. (practice times

are flexible).  After 12:30 we will break for lunch and have team

meetings, etc. until approx. 2PM. If there are no meetings…the players

will be allowed to go home.  Any Doctors or Dental appointments, etc.

should be made at this time (after 2pm) so that practice time will not be

missed! This saves a tremendous amount of time not walking back and

forth to Rundlett twice a day, while giving the players more rest between

practices! This will be an adjustment for everyone, but one I feel is

in the best interest of the football program!

Division I -Coach of the year
: Eric Brown of Concord

They were everyone's favorite story when they started 2-0 and then a young team got hit with the iron of the schedule. Concord kept improving though behind quarterback/defensive stand-out Graham McIntire and finished strong in a tough
loss to Pinkerton and a win over Salem. With McIntire and running back Tolbert Nemo back next year this is a team to watch...and isn't the Division I race more
fun when Concord is involved?

Football All-State 2012

Crimson Tide Football Philosophy
Crimson Tide Football Philosophy
The football program at Concord High School is only a part of the entire educational process for the student-athletes participating in the program. In addition to learning the skills necessary to compete at the high school level, our players will be taught the values associated with being a good student, a good citizen and a good teammate; Values that will help them in their everyday lives and careers well beyond their high school years.
Being a football player for the Crimson Tide is an honor and privilege that must be earned. It is a privilege that requires commitment, self-discipline, physical toughness, a strong work ethic and perseverance.
Family 1st, School 2nd and Team 3rd are our priorities!
At the sub-varsity level, player development and participation is our number one goal. Participation in games must still be an earned privilege in keeping with our philosophy. At the varsity level the best players will play and winning the game is our ultimate goal! However, the requirements of earning the privilege to be on the field still stand. We will not compromise the integrity of the Concord High Football Program in any way for on the field success.
We want being a member of our football team to be the best “class” they can take, and our coaches to be the best “teachers” the players can be involved with.
Success, on and off the field, will be achieved by believing in, and adhering to, the philosophy of the Concord High Crimson Tide Football Program.
